 WEBSITE NEWS - CONTACT:    meridian.website.ed@gmail.com

August 2017
My stint as editor is now complete and control of our site has been duly handed over to the Expats who have agreed to run it jointly. Please remember we are no longer making group contact via the Blog facility; to contact the new editors please continue to use the same email address as above.
Many thanks for your support especially during the past two years. ed

November 2016
Thanks to the increasing popularity of our website and our successful association with the largest PR company in the UAE we are delighted to announce our new financial Sponsorship arrangement with Dubai PR Cycling and attractions. The new sponsorship deal will enable us to secure the future of our site for the foreseeable future. ed

Many thanks to those who took the trouble to contact me with their thoughts, please keep them coming.

April 2016
Thank you for your positive responses it appears that many of you prefer our site and are impressed with the recent changes. Your feedback also indicates that they are still claiming this is not my project despite the fact that they have conclusively lost the war of words and have no answers to our replies. Ray is not running this website, he has little time as he has other interesting and rewarding projects on his plate at the moment. His only contribution now is to respond to my frequent emails requesting opinions on various cycling topics. They know they have a problem, if they acknowledge the truth and confess that I am the webmaster then they have no justification for their outrageous and childish behavior in not renewing the founder committee member’s membership with the same privileges as everyone else.

February 2016
I am delighted to report that the number of our website visitors is still growing substantially week on week despite a wobble towards the end of 2015. Thanks for the various feedback's so far, please keep them coming. We would still like to hear from you particularly if you have an opinion on recent club matters. What topic of information interests you, or what other issue would you like to see highlighted? Some are concerned that our membership is in decline, perhaps you have some thoughts on the subject? Please let me have your opinions, I guarantee not to include your name in our reports unless I have your permission.

January 2016
I am pleased report that once my stint is completed during the latter part of 2017, I have arranged for the site to be taken over by other club founder members. They have confirmed they are happy to personally manage the site until such time as the member who was childishly denied renewal is reinstated as a club member with the same privileges as all the other members of the club.

July
2015
At last I have managed to post a few videos onto the site; if you have any old or new videos please forward them to meridiancccycleclub@gmail.com I will download them to the site ASAP.

The embedded document element is now working well and it will make it easier to view and download documents. There is still much to do so Maintenance and Development will still take some time to complete.

Our Weebly yearly report states that we have received an incredible 6000 unique visitors to our site. Weebly monthly statistics for July, indicates that we are are currently averaging 350 hits a day. This is really surprising as Ray tells me that we only have 150 members with Broadband access.

February 2015
Ray has introduced a new facility to enable volunteers to sign up as runs leaders online. It's not difficult the list for Apr-June is now available for use by leaders, runs co-ordinators and runs secretaries.

Access to the runs lists is now via a simple Button system
which I have recently introduced. The Buttons are a handy tool as it makes the site easier to operate, we can gradually introduce more of them throughout the site in the coming months.

October 2012
You will all be aware that the club have been unable to find any volunteers to undertake the position of webmaster. Subsequently Ray and Barbara’s Grandson Edward offered to construct a new club Website via “Weebly” and the basic site is now up and running. With the committees approval we have recently upgraded to Weebly Pro which offers many more new features and elements plus unlimited storage facilities. Although much has been achieved already Maintenance and Development of the site will continue to be ongoing for some time.

Edward has given up his Saturday job to concentrate on the further development and maintenance of the site. In recognition of this the committee have agreed to pay him the sum of £20 per month. Maintenance of websites
can be very expensive so we believe this arrangement represents good value for money for the club. The arrangement was originally suggested and agreed before David resigned as Club Secretary.
